Hailing from a family of accomplished athletes, Jahzen lived up to the family name. With three siblings who had previously placed at nationals, the pressure was on, and he did not disappoint. Jahzen clinched the gold medal with victories over two tough competitors and a dominating finish of 29-1 in the final round, showcasing the family’s legacy of excellence.
Jimmy’s Taekwondo Journey Takes Flight
Participating in his first tournament as a 1st Dan, Jimmy faced a seasoned veteran and stood his ground. While he didn’t emerge with a win, Jimmy gained invaluable experience that will undoubtedly help him in this new chapter of his taekwondo journey. Our final competitor, Marissa, went head-to-head with one of this year’s AAU National Champions. While she didn’t secure the win, she earned high praise from the champion’s father, who noted that Marissa scored more points on the champion than all the girls the champion had beaten at nationals; not bad for her first time on the mat. Marissa’s performance was truly exceptional and full of promise.
